MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS- JUNE 24TH!!

MOVIE WILL START AS SOON AS IT GETS DARK ENOUGH, JUDGING BY THE SUNSET TONIGHT, EXPECT THE MOVIE TO START AROUND 8:45PM.

We should have played "Singing in the Rain"....

The skies were dark. The clouds were omnious. The rain fell hard and the thunder and lighting lit up the sky.
But the movie went on and 60 or so movie goers enjoyed the Sandlot none-the-less.
We moved under the cover of the pavilion and watched the movie on the big screen despite the windy conditions.
We proved that come rain or shine, the Tower Grove Movie night will go on!
We will do the Sandlot again on July 22nd with all the bells and whistles as promised. However, if it does rain then we will assume the movie is cursed and NEVER SHOW IT AGAIN!
Thank you so much to everyone who came last night, I hope you had a great a time as I did!
See you in two weeks for MEET ME IN ST. LOUS!

The Sandlot - Saturday June 10th 8:30pm

Here's a catcher-upper on the next movie, just in case you don't know:

THE SANDLOT
RATED PG
However we have recieved the Edited for Airline version, so the one word that takes this movie from a G to a PG has been removed.

A kid named Scott Smalls moves into town. He's not cool but he's a little of a nerd. Another kid named Benny Rodriguez offers Smalls toplay baseball with the other kids(After the kids saw that Smalls couldn't catch or throw). Benny does not give up hope for Smalls and teaches him how to do baseball stuff. They do funny stuff. If they lose a ball, they can't get it because a dog called "The Beast" is a monster dog that lives over the fence. Smalls snatches his stepfather's autographed ball with Babe Ruth. He hits it over the fence and needs to get it back before his stepfather gets back from a buisiness trip!

Older Flier Has Old Movie Date

Hopefully my work paid off and you saw my flier I posted a couple of weeks ago.
Well unfortunatley we had to change the date for the movie this weekend. Originally it was Friday June 9th, but we changed it too Saturday June 1oth.
So if you see an older flier up with a June 9th date......it's wrong!
The movie is THIS SATURDAY JUNE 10TH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dates of Movies

I didn't know if some of you could read the dates and movies on the last post, so here it a blown up version.

Movie Times

Every week is differnt, and as the summer rolls on the night will get here a little later then usual.
So as a rule of thumb when you all are planning to come down to the park
remember the later the better.

When we were testing the screen and projector early in May, the images showed up around 8:15-8:20, but last week the movies started around 8:35 and I expect them to get only later.
That is why we have the ativities and music to pass the time. Not to mention, it's a great opportunity to play some trivia and see the sponsors supporting the event. All sponsors, by the way are local Tower Grove businesses and organizations- so make sure you stop by say hi to them, maybe buy something, maybe donate some time, it's up to you.

Here is a tentative schedule for these movies:
7:45 Activities Begin
8:35-8:45 Movie Begins (cross your fingers)

Movie Night Flier

Here is the flier I've been posting all over town. So if you haven't seen this somewhere in the Tower Grove Area, then I haven't been doing my job.
Wait....no....wait...I HAVE been doing my job, but those Disney cronies have been tearing them down, they want you to pay to see movies...yea that's it.
(PS Go see Cars, now in Theatres, so I don't get sued. Please...)

Park Policy

The first time we did this we learned a lot of things. The most important being,
IF YOU WANT TO BRING BEER OR WINE MAKE SURE IT'S IN A PLASTIC BOTTLE OR CUP.

Lord knows the last thing we need is someone slicing open thier foot while re-enacting the the climatic battle between Scar and Simba at the end of the movie.

Why someone would do that particular thing in front of strangers, thier family, and horrified children is beyond me. But hey! It's the weekend, go nuts!

The First Night was a Huge Hit!

The 1st Movie on May 27th was a huge hit. This picture may not reflect it, but when the movie started we had around 250 people watching the Lion King.
This picture was taken at 7pm, when I showed up people were already there.

Volunteers made this whole thing happen. (In fact I'm going to make a seperate post of that in a bit....) Here are two running the projector, Carl McKenzie, father of our original Projector Maestro, Matt McKenzie and Jake something or other....hmmm.....let me check myspace and figure it out...

To keep the kids busy we brought in some face painters. Both did an amazing job and no complaints from the parents.
Local artist Craig Downs stopped by to put some designs down and Southwest Garden Neighborhood Association President Dana Gray helped out.

I don't remember if she was satisified with her face paint or not or acting a little off base is a side effect of the paint, either way it's a great picture of a Movie Night fan. Then again she is my niece so I'm a little biased.
